What kind of brewery is Fest Sanroku Go?

Fest Sanroku Go, officially Fest365. This is a craft beer launched by Yaohon-ten in Chichibu, a long-established sake brewery founded in 1749.

What? 1749!? A sake brewery with more than 275 years of history making beer?

Exactly. It's a challenge made possible by the brewing know-how they've built through sake making. What's interesting about the beer here is that every label is named after a Chichibu festival and date.

A festival name? What do you mean?

"12月3日のホーリャイ" is a pale ale inspired by the Chichibu Night Festival. "7月20日の水しぶき" is a pilsner based on the Chichibu Kawase Festival. "8月14日のこぉらしょっ" is a porter inspired by the Chichibu Ondo Festival. Chichibu is a town with more than 300 festivals a year, so Fest365 means 'every day is a festival.'

That's amazing! The beer style changes with each festival!

What's more, using rice bran from domestically produced rice in every brew is very much in keeping with a sake brewery. The pale ale combines the sweetness of rice bran with the fruity aroma of hops, and the porter even adds sake lees. The richness of roasted malt and sake lees is a pretty rare combination.

Rice bran and sake lees!? That's a recipe only a sake brewery could come up with. I'm really curious about the porter...

The pilsner 'Mizushibuki' has a smooth, refreshing aroma, just like a summer riverside festival. I think it'd be perfect to drink while watching the festival on a hot day.

Wouldn't it be the ultimate experience to drink 'Horyai' in person at the Chichibu Night Festival? I absolutely want to go!
