Have you ever tried CHROA in Ota City? Their brand concept is wild, and the theme across the whole series is "affair."
Mugi
An affair? What do you mean, the theme of a beer is an affair!?

The producer, Tatsuya Kataoka, is a world-renowned wheel designer from Ota City, and the concept is to express the human condition and taboos directly through taste and design. The fashion-like label designs are intense, and the visual impact is huge.
Mugi
A wheel designer producing beer... that's way too unusual! What kinds of beers do they actually make?

"GUILTY WHITE" is a Weissbier that's easy to drink with little bitterness, almost like white wine. "TABOO RED" is a pale ale with a reddish-copper color and a pronounced hop aroma. "DOUBT GREEN" is a dry-hopped beer made with two kinds of hops, known for its herbal aroma.
Mugi
GUILTY, TABOO, DOUBT... even the names are dramatic!

There's more. The "IPA" is a punchy brew made with four kinds of hops. And the ultimate one is "BLACK PARADE," a Belgian strong ale at 8% ABV. It has a red-wine-like feel and a gentle bitterness. The thing is, all of them are ale styles that emphasize richness and umami.
Mugi
A Belgian strong ale at 8% ABV! That's definitely one to sip slowly. Where do they brew it?

The parent company is Yume Beer Ota, established in 1996 by the city of Ota as a third-sector venture. It started as a historic brewery with technical support from Sapporo Breweries. You can drink it fresh at the attached restaurant, Daniel House. In 2016, Kataoka joined, refreshed the brand, and turned it into the bold style it has today.

So this third-sector local beer was reborn through the hands of a designer. You can buy it in cans too, right? I heard it's also offered as a hometown tax donation gift, so I want to start with GUILTY WHITE!
