Bande Brewing

What kind of brewery is Bande Brewing?

Bande Brewing is a new brewery trying to express the ingredients and landscape of Minobu through beer. It brews with Shimobe hot spring mineral water, locally grown barley and hops, and even yeast collected from places like the cherry trees of Mount Minobu.

Wow, so it is not just local water. Even the yeast comes from the area? That really does sound like a beer rooted in Minobu.

Exactly. And they have said they use Nishijima Washi for the labels, which means the local culture shows up not only in the ingredients but also in how the beer looks.

I like that. It feels meaningful, not just decorative, like the place is part of the beer before you even drink it.

It was not started by a single brewer either. The project was launched by six people connected to Minobu specialties like Akebono soybeans, yuba, and Nishijima Washi. Even the name Bande seems to reflect that sense of connection.

So it is less like one standalone beer brand and more like a group of local people building something together. That gives it real character.

COO Hideto Asano is also interesting. He used to run a company in Yokohama, and after moving to Minobu he became involved in both farming and sales. Having someone who understands both ingredients and how to present them is a real strength.

That is interesting. Someone from a different industry is helping connect local products and beer, so the appeal is not only in the flavor but also in how the whole project is shaped.

There still is not much public detail on flagship beers yet, but the core attraction is already clear. It is the idea of bringing Minobu's ingredients, water, and culture together in a single beer.

Yeah, that makes me want to follow what comes next. Rather than chasing a label name first, I would want to see how Minobu itself takes shape in the beer.
