New Release: "JIKKO BEER"
BATHE YOTSUME BREWERY has announced its new "JIKKO BEER." The style is Spice Saison, the ABV is 5%, and the IBU is 9. It is presented as a beer inspired by "jikko," one of the representative medicinal herbs used in herbal baths, combining star anise, cinnamon, coriander, and clove.
The aroma design is very clear. The sweet scent of star anise and cinnamon comes first, followed by the spice notes of coriander and clove. The description gives it an exotic impression reminiscent of Taiwanese cuisine and craft cola, and it finishes with the light dryness typical of saison. It is a beer that suits drinking while feeling a breeze after a bath, just as the heat of the season begins to build.
The shop is a brewery located at 4-11-3 Narihira, Sumida Ward, Tokyo, and in addition to developing and brewing craft beer, it has a beer bar and DJ booth at the back of the store where guests can enjoy beer and music. True to a shop rooted in sento culture, the beer concept connects neatly to "a drink to enjoy after a bath."
This JIKKO BEER has a clearly defined spice profile while remaining light on the palate in classic saison fashion. It has a strong personality, but rather than being hard to drink, it is the kind of beer whose design intent comes through clearly, and it has real persuasive power as an after-bath beer. As a new release from BATHE YOTSUME BREWERY that translates memories of the sento into beer, it is one to watch.
