Beer House Hobbit (Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture) announced its May 20 draft beer lineup on Instagram and said that Choryu Shuzo's "Rice Lager" had been tapped.
Rice Lager is a lager-style beer made with rice from Nara Prefecture. In the post, it is introduced as a drink that intentionally keeps hops and malt flavors subdued, letting you feel the sweetness of the rice at the end of the glass. In addition to being easy to drink on its own, it is also crafted with food pairing in mind.
The draft beers on tap that day were:
- Choryu Shuzo / Rice Lager
- Kyoto Brewing / Shigoku Tōzen
- Mojiko Retro Beer / Pilsner
- Naminooto Brewing / Circle
- Kyoto Brewing / 十一十一十
- Hirakata Beer / Session Citra White
The six-beer lineup includes lagers, pilsners, a session white, and two Kyoto Brewing labels, offering everything from easy-drinking beers to more distinctive choices.
On the food side, the pub is spotlighting a fresh vegetable plate made with morning-harvest vegetables from nearby farms, served this week with a sudachi dressing made with citrus from Tokushima Prefecture. Other dishes include sautéed domestic beef rump, nachos with beef loin and jalapeños, and Taiwanese-style fried chicken. The selection fits a beer-focused pub, with light appetizers that work from the first drink and heartier dishes to enjoy as you keep drinking.
Beer House Hobbit is a Hirakata beer pub that shares its draft rotation day by day. As the weather gets warmer, it is an easy place to check for those who want to drink around a crisp lager and vegetable dishes.
