Cliff Garo Brewing, based in Okinawa City, will release ‘SPENT GAZE’ on September 11, 2026. The beer is the first installment of the brewery’s canned Okinawa Hyakkei project and is brewed as a DDH IPA, or double dry-hopped IPA.

In a DDH IPA, hops are added after fermentation in multiple stages to emphasize aroma as well as bitterness. Ahead of the release, Cliff Garo Brewing indicated that the beer would use roughly twice the usual amount of hops. Oats were also part of the recipe direction, intended to give the beer a smoother mouthfeel. The result is expected to pair a pronounced hop presence with a softer texture.

Okinawa Hyakkei is a project that presents the character of Okinawa through canned beer. Cans make it possible to enjoy the brewery’s work outside the taproom and carry a taste of Okinawa City to a wider audience.
