Jokun Brewing launches JA Uonuma collab “Yukishita Ninjin Saison”
At Jokun Brewing, a brewpub in Tokamachi, Niigata, a new collaboration beer with JA Uonuma is now on the way. The release, “Yukishita Ninjin Saison,” highlights local snow-grown carrots and begins retail sales on July 1.
A collaboration rooted in the local harvest
Jokun Brewing, a brewpub in Honcho, Tokamachi, Niigata, has brewed a new collaboration beer with JA Uonuma: Yukishita Ninjin Saison. Tokamachi and neighboring Tsunan are two of Niigata’s key snow-carrot growing areas, and that local agricultural background is at the heart of the project.
Saison with citrus, spice, and a carrot-driven character
The beer is a Saison at 5% ABV. It uses Pilsner Malt and Carapils, with Cascade, Amarillo, and Nugget hops. According to the post, the profile brings grapefruit- and orange-like citrus aroma, a gentle bitterness, carrot character, coriander seed spice, and the peppery nuance typical of Saison yeast. The result is described as light, dry, and well suited to summer drinking.
Sales begin on July 1
The beer will be sold as 15L kegs and 330ml bottles. Sales start on July 1 at three locations: Uonuma Hyakkakan, Craft Beer Jokun, and Beer Lab Jokun in Yuzawa. It will also be offered through Best Beer Japan for business accounts and BASE for retail customers.
Jokun Brewing is known for beers that reflect the food culture and climate of snow country Niigata. This release fits that approach well, turning a local ingredient and a farming tradition into a beer meant to be enjoyed with food.
