Echigo Beer will release its limited-edition beer “Urui Hop no Horehore Ale” on Friday, April 17, 2026. The product was originally released in 2021 and 2022, where it was well received, and this marks its return for the first time in four years. With production now beginning at the company’s new Nasu Brewery in Tochigi Prefecture, the release reflects an intention to reach a wider audience once again.
This beer is a Hazy IPA that lets you enjoy a fruity aroma derived from hops. In addition to its rich hop aroma, it is characterized by a light, smooth mouthfeel and fruity taste. Its hazy appearance also emphasizes the qualities that define the so-called “hazy” style.
The ingredients are barley malt (produced in the UK and Germany), wheat malt, hops, and oats. It has an alcohol content of 6%, comes in 350 ml cans, and has a suggested retail price of 324 yen before tax and 356 yen including tax. The package depicts a humorous scene of an Indian elephant enjoying beer by a lakeside and Champ, a mysterious creature said to live in the lake, expressing an image of fruity flavor and tropical aroma.
Echigo Beer is known as one of Japan’s earliest craft beer brands and has continually released distinctive limited-edition offerings. This re-release is also drawing attention as a beer that balances the company’s playful character with the drinkability of a Hazy IPA.
