Sunao Brewery, based in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, has announced two new beers. The beers introduced this time are the saison "HoppyBirthday" and the golden ale "GEM^2." Both use 100% Yokote-grown hops, suggesting a direction that stays close to the ingredients in a way that feels characteristic of the brewery.

On its official website, Sunao Brewery is introduced as a craft beer brewery that champions "kind to nature, kind to people." For a brewery that aims to make beer rooted in Akita's natural environment, these two labels centered on locally grown hops clearly express that philosophy.

"HoppyBirthday" is a saison with an ABV of 5.0%. It uses Chinook and Cashmere hops, and saison yeast. In the post, the brewery explains that it aimed for a flavor that would be hard to tire of, blending the sweetness of the added sweets with the spicy freshness brought by the yeast. It also added well-known sweets from Akita and Saitama, and said it adjusted the yeast and other elements little by little to suit the brewers' preferences.

"GEM^2," on the other hand, is a golden ale with an ABV of 7.0%. It also uses Chinook and Cashmere hops, but with abbey yeast. It is presented as a beer designed to offer a firm drinking experience that lets you enjoy aroma, sweetness, and alcoholic warmth.

The post says that both beers will be available not only at the brewery, but also through its online shop. As two beers that let drinkers enjoy the character of Yokote-grown hops alongside different yeast designs, they are worth checking out if you're interested.
