Discovering BAK from Osaka

Daikanyama beer pub Bibibi. introduces breweries from across Japan through the stories of the brewers its owner has visited. The latest feature is BAK, a microbrewery based in Osaka.

BAK began brewing in 2018 under the name DEPAAS DINER & BREW and adopted its current name in 2020. Founder and owner-brewer Yuji Kawamoto previously worked in advertising sales before entering the food and beverage business and eventually turning his attention to craft beer.

The name BAK comes from “Brewing and Kindling,” reflecting the brewery’s aim of making beers that spark curiosity. Its inventive lineup includes “13,” inspired by chocolate mint ice cream, and “Nigori Ichigo,” a strawberry beer designed to evoke the bittersweetness of first love.

BAK’s beers are distinctive not only in concept but also in flavor, earning the brewery a devoted following and a strong presence in the Kansai region. At Bibibi., guests can enjoy the beers while learning about the ideas and people behind them.

Located in Daikanyama, Bibibi. is an approachable standing bar where solo visitors are welcome. Stop by to explore BAK’s unconventional brewing style and enjoy a beer with a story behind it.
