Kyoto Nude Brewery Releases Limited "HATSUARASHI - First Storm -"
Kyoto Nude Brewery, based in Keihoku, Kyoto, has newly released the Brut Imperial IPA "HATSUARASHI-初嵐-". By incorporating white koji and yellow koji, it achieves both the strength of 10.0% ABV and a dry finish. It is drawing attention as a limited beer that layers fruity aromas with a fresh, green hop character.
Kyoto Nude Brewery announced its new product, "HATSUARASHI-初嵐- Brut Imperial IPA," at 20:40 on August 31, 2025. In its official announcement, the brewery introduced it as a new release for the lingering hot season and shared release details while also touching on the brewing environment in Keihoku.
This beer is an Imperial IPA designed as a Brut style, meaning a dry beer with restrained residual sugar. By making use of the saccharifying enzymes in koji to advance fermentation, it aims for a crisp drinking experience even at a high alcohol level. Its aroma combines sweet fruit notes reminiscent of pineapple and melon with a verdant hop aroma. In addition, the light acidity and ester character derived from white koji and yellow koji give it a distinctive outline within the hoppy character typical of an IPA.
The specifications are as follows.
- Style: Brut Imperial IPA
- ABV: 10.0%
- IBU: 20
- Malts: Pilsner, Pale Ale
- Hops: El Dorado, Columbus, El Dorado CGX, Strata, Polaris
- Yeast: AY4
- Other adjuncts: White Sugar, Rice Koji
Kyoto Nude Brewery is based in the Ukyo Ward Keihoku area, about 40 to 50 minutes by car from central Kyoto. The brewery places brewing in a natural setting at the core of its brand and has communicated its regional character and experiential value as part of its message. This "HATSUARASHI-初嵐-" can be seen as a beer where that sense of place intersects with the brewery's approach of making use of koji.
Sales are being announced on the product page of the brewery's online store, where it is being offered as a limited item.
