CIDER SHACK, a beer pub in Higashi, Shibuya, will operate in conjunction with the Shibuya Hikawa Shrine Reitaisai on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13.

The shrine approach is about a two-minute walk from the pub. During the weekend, drinks from CIDER SHACK may be taken outside in plastic cups, with a discount available for drinks served in those cups. Food purchased from the shrine festival stalls may be brought into the pub, although outside alcoholic drinks are not permitted. The bar also plans to offer festival-inspired food of its own.

The featured drinks include Matsumoto Brewery’s “Awesome! Ale Real Ale ver.” and a new cask of ROSS-ON-WYE’s “Somerset Redstreaks S.V. Cider.” The combination reflects CIDER SHACK’s focus on both beer and cider, pairing the gentle character of real ale with an English-style cider. The tap list may change, so availability should be confirmed at the venue.

At Shibuya Hikawa Shrine, the September 12 program includes a flower float, a children’s mikoshi procession, and a minyo bon-dance gathering from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On September 13, an adult mikoshi procession is scheduled from 12:30 p.m., followed by a karaoke competition from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Festival food stalls from local businesses will also line the grounds and approach.

Located between Shibuya and Ebisu, CIDER SHACK offers a relaxed, counter-focused setting for beer and cider. Stop in for a drink, then head over to the shrine and enjoy the local festival atmosphere.
