Spring-Limited “Sakura” at BOKKE
At the beer pub BOKKE in Minamihoribata-cho, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Sankt Gallen’s seasonal beer “Sakura” has been tapped. In a post, the shop says it hopes people will enjoy it while looking at the moat-side cherry blossoms, even if the weather is unfortunately rainy.
“Sankt Gallen Sakura” is a spring-limited beer flavored with cherry blossoms and leaves from Takato in Ina, Nagano Prefecture. It uses 20% wheat malt to soften the mouthfeel, and by adding the sake rice “Rakufubai,” grown at Izumibashi Sake Brewery in Ebina, Kanagawa Prefecture, it expresses the aroma and sweetness reminiscent of domyoji sakura mochi. The alcohol content is 5%, and the reference price for a 330 ml bottle is 539 yen including tax.
BOKKE is a beer bar and beer hall located about a two-minute walk from Nishi-Horibata Station. It has counter seats, making it easy for solo visitors to drop in, and all seats are non-smoking, so it is a casual place to stop by. As a shop where you can enjoy craft beer in central Matsuyama, it is also convenient for a drink after work or a quick stop before or after cherry-blossom viewing.
This tapping is noteworthy as a guest beer that can be enjoyed in step with cherry blossom season. Drinking it while checking how the aroma rises and how the sweetness comes through on the palate makes this beer’s character easier to appreciate. Even on a rainy day, it is news suited to people who want to take their time enjoying a spring-like pint.
