Cliff Garo Brewing, based in Okinawa City, said on August 22 that brewing has been completed for the first beer in its canned project, Okinawa Hyakkei. The first release is a DDH IPA, built around a double dry-hopping process that uses twice the usual amount of hops added in two stages after fermentation.

The brewery says the beer is designed to combine a smooth mouthfeel from oats with a pronounced hop aroma. Sales are scheduled to begin in the first half of September, making this a hop-forward IPA to watch.

Cliff Garo Brewing operates as a microbrewery in Okinawa City and is known for beers that make use of local ingredients and a strong sense of place. Okinawa Hyakkei continues that approach in canned form, bringing the brewery's character into a format that should be easy to share beyond the taproom.
