Preparing the plums
In an Instagram post dated July 3, Domyoji Bakushu said it had begun preparing Tensan Ale Ume, a limited seasonal beer made with plums from Domyoji Tenmangu. The post shows the fruit being pitted and pressed by hand, and says the brewery extracted juice from about 14 kg of plums.
Domyoji Bakushu is a microbrewery in Fujiidera, Osaka, operating near the gate of Domyoji Tenmangu. Alongside its flagship Misasagi Beer lineup, the brewery regularly releases seasonal beers built around local ingredients. Its official website also highlights plum-based beers such as Misasagi Ume White, showing that plum is already one of the brewery's recurring themes.
The craft beer release for Tensan Ale Ume is scheduled for early August. This is still the prep stage, but the way the brewery handles the fruit will likely shape the beer's aroma and overall impression. As with many of Domyoji Bakushu's seasonal releases, the focus here is on turning a local ingredient into a beer that reflects the place it comes from.
