New tap and pairing introduced at the same time

On May 13, the brewpub Sakazuki Brewing in Tokyo's Adachi Ward shared its tap information for the day under "Today's Pairing Day." The highlight was the new release "Bye Bye OVATIFOLIA." It is a commemorative beer for Katoenge Tokyo, a specialty agave shop, and is introduced as a tropical-aroma hazy pale ale blended with agave syrup.

In the post, the beer's flavor is described as having a clean finish derived from the agave syrup, along with tropical and citrusy hop aromas. In a tasting at serving time, it reportedly also had a subtle sweetness amid its light, easygoing character.

The food is paired with Mexican cuisine

The pairing food that day was "Mexican quesadilla with taco meat." It features cheddar cheese and spicy taco meat, with mango tomato salsa, avocado salsa, jalapeños, cilantro, and key lime. The idea is to layer the beer's tropical aroma with the salsa and spice elements.

That day's lineup

That day, the brewery announced 19 beers with different personalities, including "shy girl" Bohemian Pilsner, "shy daddy" American Lager, "after the rain" Fruit Beer, "hangover!" Imperial IPA, and "Pink Boots Collab. Brew -Blue-". Some labels were already sold out, and others were close to selling out. As is typical of a brewery with an attached taproom in Adachi Ward, the movement in brewing and serving flows directly into the in-store experience.

It is a seasonal, one-day-only proposal that feels very much like Sakazuki Brewing, which continues to pair house-brewed beer with food in Tokyo's Adachi Ward.
