Zao Brewery to Hold Autumn Beer Festival 2026 on September 21–22
Zao Brewery will hold its fourth annual Autumn Beer Festival on September 21 and 22, 2026, at the event plaza of Yamagin Kenmin Hall near Yamagata Station. The free event will feature a limited passion-fruit beer made with fruit from Yamagata Prefecture, local food, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

Zao Brewery will host “ZAO BREWERY Autumn Beer Festival 2026” on September 21 and 22, 2026. The two-day event will take place from 11:00 to 20:00 at the event plaza of Yamagin Kenmin Hall, approximately three minutes on foot from the west exit of JR Yamagata Station. Admission is free.
A highlight will be an event-exclusive beer made with passion fruit grown in Yamagata Prefecture. Visitors will also be able to enjoy Zao Brewery’s regular beers alongside a variety of food from popular restaurants and food trucks.
The program will include a singing competition, dance performances, street entertainment and DJ sets. Families can also take part in children’s festival games and sand art, making the event accessible to both beer enthusiasts and visitors who do not drink alcohol.
Based in Yamagata City, Zao Brewery is the first craft brewery in the city. It uses spring water from the Zao area as brewing water and develops beers inspired by the region. Its lineup includes SNOW MONSTER, a white wheat ale inspired by Zao’s snow monsters, YAMAGATA Cherry ALE and the 7% ABV ZAO CLASSIC IPA.
With local ingredients, craft beer, food and entertainment gathered in one convenient location, the festival offers an easy way to experience the flavors of Yamagata in autumn. Visitors who drink should use public transportation or a designated driving service.
