Naminoto Brewing, based in Minamiawaji City on Awaji Island, has released a limited-edition "Coffee IPA" born from a collaboration with Takamura Coffee Roasters. By bringing together a specialty coffee shop and a craft brewery, the beer was created with a focus on how to layer coffee aroma with the character of hops.

The beer uses award-winning Brazilian beans that placed 17th in `TASTE OF HARVEST Brazil`. Takamura lightly roasted the beans and used them generously in the brew, aiming for coffee-derived aroma, a moderate bitterness, and a clean, iced-coffee-like nuance. The fruitiness and grassy freshness from the hops overlap, while the finish leaves a caramel-like toastiness. In addition, a pinch of Awaji Island-produced `Onokoroshizuku salt` is added to smooth the mouthfeel.

As a small brewery near Keino Matsubara, Naminoto Brewing has continued making beers that make use of ingredients from Awaji Island. Another defining feature is its commitment to using materials without waste, such as sending spent grain to the local community as feed, and it practices a craft beer style rooted in the region. The label for this release uses a gray base inspired by Takamura's Awaji Island store and features a character modeled after a coffee bean, reflecting care not only for flavor but also for the impression it makes in hand.

This collaboration brings out the character of coffee while still retaining the drinkability expected of an IPA, crossing Awaji Island's local ingredients with the perspective of a roaster. It will be sold at Takamura's Osaka store, its Awaji Island store, and Naminoto Brewing's own sales location. As a limited local release, it is a beer where you can experience the personality of both brands.
