Utsui Brewery to release limited Amaou fruit ale with Yanagawa strawberries
Utsui Brewery in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi, has announced a collaboration beer with soil select farm, a welfare workplace in Yanagawa, Fukuoka. The limited-edition “VACAN CRAFT07 Amaou Ale” uses Fukuoka-grown Amaou strawberries and goes on sale on July 18.
Utsui Brewery, which brews VACAN CRAFT in the Utsui area of Shimonoseki, has unveiled a new limited release. The beer is called “VACAN CRAFT07 Amaou Ale,” a collaboration with soil select farm, a welfare workplace in Yanagawa, Fukuoka. The brewery says it uses plenty of Fukuoka-grown Amaou strawberries.
According to the brewery, the beer offers a sweet-and-tart strawberry aroma with a fruit-forward character. It is also the first beer style Utsui Brewery has ever tackled. For a brewery that continues to make beer in Shimonoseki’s Utsui district, the release adds fruit from Fukuoka and a welfare partnership to its locally rooted brewing story. Amaou is one of Fukuoka’s best-known strawberry varieties, so the pairing is likely to draw attention from fruit-beer fans.
Sales begin on July 18 at Utsui Brewery and Green Farm (@greenfarm_5454). Retailers are expected to start carrying it from the following week, and the beer is being sold in limited quantities. It is another example of a Shimonoseki-based brewery connecting local brewing with agriculture and welfare in one bottle.
