Freshly harvested hops in Daikanyama
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, Bibibi., a beer pub in Daikanyama, welcomed HOP JAPAN, a microbrewery from Tamura, Fukushima. The event was part of HOP JAPAN’s annual “FRESH HOP 2026 in Tokyo” project, in which the brewery visited four locations in Tokyo over September 26 and 27 to open this year’s fresh hop beer.
Bibibi. took part for the second consecutive year. The featured beer was “Abukuma FRESH,” brewed with hops harvested this year. Fresh hops are often dried or processed into pellets before brewing, but using them soon after harvest allows brewers to highlight their vibrant, green character and lively aroma. The beer offered a seasonal expression that can only be enjoyed around hop harvest time.
A brewery involved from hop field to glass
HOP JAPAN was founded in August 2020 after renovating Green Park Miyakoji, a public facility that had remained unused following the earthquake. Working with local contract farmers, the brewery is involved in hop cultivation as well as brewing, using locally grown hops in its beers.
Learning about the people and places behind a beer can change the way it tastes. That approach closely reflects Bibibi.’s philosophy: beer becomes more enjoyable when drinkers know its makers and their stories.
Located on the first floor of Castle Mansion in Daikanyama, Shibuya, Bibibi. is a beer pub where guests can discover craft beers and connect with the people who make them. Seasonal releases such as “Abukuma FRESH” offer an opportunity to explore both the character of a beer and the regional story behind it.
