Onomichi Brewery taps Onomichi Lemon Radler for cyclists
Onomichi Brewery used Instagram to announce Onomichi Lemon Radler, a low-alcohol radler made with local lemons from Onomichi. It fits the cycling culture around the Shimanami Kaido gateway town.
Onomichi Brewery is a brewpub in Kubo, Onomichi, Hiroshima, set in a renovated kura storehouse built in 1894. The brewery posted to Instagram with a message aimed at cyclists and announced that Onomichi Lemon Radler was on tap.
The beer is a radler, meaning beer cut with lemonade. According to the brewery’s own description, it uses plenty of Onomichi-grown lemons and comes in as a low-alcohol drink with bright citrus aroma and gentle sweetness. The word radler comes from the German word for “cyclist,” which makes the style especially fitting for Onomichi, a well-known cycling gateway to the Shimanami Kaido.
Compared with hop-forward IPAs, this is the kind of beer that feels easier to reach for after a ride: lighter, fresher, and built around refreshment. The brewery’s location is also convenient for visitors walking from Onomichi Station, so it works well as a stop during a shopping-street stroll or as the final pint after a day on the bike. In the quiet atmosphere of the old kura, the combination of local lemons and freshly poured beer feels especially on-brand for Onomichi.
