A noteworthy release update has arrived from jokun-brewing/Craft Beer Jokun, a brewpub in Honcho, Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture. In a March 17 post, the brewery announced the 2nd batch of "Basha Uma," its first-ever lager. True to its name, the post conveys the grounded, hands-on character of a place where you can feel the brewing process close at hand.

This latest "Basha Uma" is designed on a soft base centered around Pilsner malt, layered with the floral brightness of American hops. While keeping a clean, low-temperature-fermented drinkability and gentle malt sweetness at the core, dry hopping brings out a modern aroma.

Published Specs

- Style: Lager
- ABV: 4.5%
- Malt: Pilsner / Munich / Carapils
- Hop: Cascade / Mosaic / Citra / Cryo Citra

The dry-hop expression, especially with Citra and Mosaic, aims to bring the aroma forward while preserving the light, brisk feel of a lager. With a balance that makes it easy to enjoy on its own or with food, it has a character well suited to the spring feeling of wanting to drink outside.

The post also mentioned availability in 15L one-way kegs and distribution through BEST BEER JAPAN. If you want to check out Jokun's lager expression, this Tokamachi brewpub offers the direct-from-the-brewery warmth and local atmosphere to do so.
