Taste a Pour from Shimokawa Town in Daikanyama

The craft beer bar "Bibibi." in Tokyo's Daikanyama will hold a launch event for a new original beer project it has been developing this spring. The setting is Shimokawa Mori Brewery in Shimokawa Town, Hokkaido. The beer was planned as a project inspired by a milestone year for co-owner Hibiya, who turned 50, and the team even traveled to the site while brewing moved forward.

This beer is designed to be more than just "trying a new release." In addition to Takashi Nakamura of Shimokawa Mori Brewery, who handled the brewing, Katsuhisa Takahashi, formerly of Bifuka Shirakaba Brewery, also took part in supervision. It carries not only ties to Shimokawa Town and Bifuka, but also support for community-building efforts and fresh challenges taking place in the region.

Two Days of Events

Friday, May 22 is limited to 20 people and requires advance registration. Along with an introduction to the new beer, the event will offer a deep dive into how it was made and what the brewing process was like on-site. There are also plans for a brewer interview connected live to Hokkaido using the large monitor inside the venue. The participation fee will use a "price set by the participant's intention" system.

Saturday, May 23 requires no reservation, with a toast at 18:00. Compared with the previous day, this session is less talk-centered and is designed as an easygoing chance to enjoy the collaboration beer while taking in the story behind its creation.

The Bibibi. Way to Enjoy It

"Bibibi." is a beer pub that values not only drinking beer, but also sharing the stories of the land and the people behind it. The appeal of this event is that you can enjoy a glass in Daikanyama while thinking about the scenery of Shimokawa Town, the brewing site, and the challenges taken on by the makers. For craft beer fans, this is an event worth noting as a beer to enjoy not just for its taste, but for its context as well.
