Wakayama Edition of 6TAPS

At the beer pub TAP&CROWLER in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward, Udagawacho, the Wakayama edition of "47 Prefectures BEER Marathon on 6TAPS" will be held on Saturday, May 9. It is being presented as a day when breweries from all over Wakayama gather on the weekend after Golden Week, with beers of different personalities lined up across six taps.

Breweries on Tap

The breweries listed in the post are Nagisa Beer, Mikazuki Brewery, Bluewood Brewery, VOYAGER BREWING, NOMCRAFT BREWING, Wakayama Brewery, and Konono beer, which is currently under inquiry. With makers from across the region brought together, the lineup offers a way to take in Wakayama's craft beer scene all at once.

The Tasting Focus

The beers center on tasting different IPAs, including West Coast IPA, Hazy IPA, and citrus-forward IPA styles. In particular, the flow from "Nagisa American Wheat" into hop-forward IPAs is highlighted as a point of interest. Moving from the lightness of wheat beer to IPAs with stronger bitterness and aroma should make the differences in character easier to appreciate as you keep drinking.

Food Pairing

The food includes smoked hot sandwiches from Osaki Smoked Research Institute. Smoked aromas pair well with hop aroma and IPA bitterness, making for a combination that brings out the beer's flavor. As a casual beer pub easy to stop by in Shibuya, TAP&CROWLER is a place where you can enjoy a tasting lineup together with food. This is an event where you will want to follow the current state of Wakayama's brewers, tap by tap.
