At a Hirakata beer pub, seasonal vegetables and six draft beers
Beer House Hobbit, in Kawaramachi, Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture, has unveiled its draft beer lineup for May 15. True to its identity as a beer pub, it is a place to enjoy beer and food together, and on this day the menu is also rich with vegetables that suit the seasonal shift from spring to early summer.
There are six draft beers in all. The highlight is a trio from Minoh Beer, based in Osaka: Papa Zaru Lager, Osaru IPA, and Kozaru IPA, making it possible to compare the so-called "Osaru series." Joining them are Shimanami Brewery's First Lager, Mojiko Retro Beer's Weizen, and Kamado Brewery's Yattokame Ale, creating a lineup that spans lager, weizen, ale, and IPA.
The food menu also emphasizes compatibility with beer. The grilled shabu-shabu of domestic beef and sautéed fresh vegetables are paired with new onions, asparagus, and white eggplant. Other seasonal dishes include clay-pot rice, spring rolls with new potatoes and beef loin, and spring rolls with young corn. The vegetable menu also includes salads of arugula, Carol Seven tomatoes, mizuna, and spring chrysanthemum greens, as well as tempura of water eggplant and bamboo shoots, plus freshly fried new potato chips.
In the post, the owner also mentioned that staff member Unno's presentation of "My Curry" is planned for May 29 and 30. For anyone who wants to enjoy a tasting comparison of draft beers alongside seasonal vegetable dishes, this is one to check out.
