GROUNDTAP BREWERY in Saijo, Ehime is releasing SANJUSHI, a 5.0% Juicy Orange Ale brewed with local wheat, naked barley, and three kinds of mandarin oranges. A release event is scheduled at the taproom on July 10.
GROUNDTAP BREWERY in Saijo, Ehime is rolling out a new beer, SANJUSHI. The release is a Juicy Orange Ale at 5.0% ABV, brewed with local wheat, naked barley, and three kinds of mandarin oranges: Kawachi bankan, Natsumi, and house mikan. The brewery says it reduced the usual hop load and leaned into the citrus character instead.
The result should be a beer with a soft grainy base, bright orange aroma, and a juicy, easygoing finish. It is the kind of release that suits warm weather, but it also sounds structured enough to show off the ingredients clearly. Label design and photography were handled by @studio_yotte.
Sales begin at PREP ROOM on Thursday, July 9, and at TAP ROOM on Friday, July 10. The beer is already available through the online shop and trade e-commerce channel, with trade packaging offered in 350 ml cans and 15 L kegs. GROUNDTAP also plans a release event at the TAP ROOM at 6:00 p.m. on July 10, where the brewer will introduce the new beer in person.
Known for using Saijo’s famed spring water, uchinuki, GROUNDTAP BREWERY continues to build beers around local ingredients and a clear sense of place. For drinkers visiting the taproom, this looks like a release worth catching while the aroma is still at its brightest.
