At 3TREE BREWERY in Futaba-cho, Ibaraki City, Osaka, the house-brewed IPA “SHY BOY” is currently on tap.

According to the post, SHY BOY is an IPA with 7.0% ABV. It uses three types of aroma hops, creating a design in which sweet aromas reminiscent of grapes and bubble gum are layered with a crisp citrus freshness. While enjoying the distinct character of the aroma, the beer finishes with a sharp bitterness on the palate, resulting in a balanced overall profile. The yeast selection has also been revised this time, so people who have been drinking it every year are likely to notice the difference more clearly.

In addition, a sister beer described as “his girlfriend beer,” “Patricia,” has also been released using the same hops, yeast, and malt. The post says it is enjoyable to compare it with SHY BOY, and it is also available as canned beer in the shop. Taking home one of each and comparing the direction of the aroma and the impression of the bitterness would also be interesting.

3TREE BREWERY is a brewpub about a three-minute walk from Hankyu Ibaraki-shi Station. Beer is brewed on the first floor and enjoyed at the stand on the second floor, letting visitors experience the atmosphere of the brewery itself. It is a good place to check the changes in new releases while drinking the regular lineup, and it also offers the fun of following limited releases like this one.

What stands out about this latest release is the way it brings the hop aroma forward while carefully balancing sweetness and bitterness. Rather than relying on flashiness alone, it is a glass designed with drinkability in mind as you keep sipping, making it something IPA fans will want to check out.
