New Arrivals at SANITY in Gakugeidaigaku
At "Craft Beer Specialty Shop Gakugeidaigaku Sanity - Sanity," located just five seconds on foot from the west exit of Gakugeidaigaku Station in Tokyo's Meguro Ward, the shop introduced its new beer arrivals to match its business hours from 5:00 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, March 26. Draft beer is also available by the ounce, and customers can consult about taking beer home in a growler.
Beers in Stock
In this post, the first beer introduced was "Yamabiko Ale" from Nagi no Oto Brewing (Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture). It is described as having restrained hop bitterness, with aromas reminiscent of lemongrass and citrus layered over the savory depth of grains and a banana-like sweetness. It is a bottle-conditioned beer whose character changes depending on temperature and when it is opened.
Next, two bottled beers arrived from Field Ales Brewery (Shinanomachi, Nagano Prefecture). "Foam Me Saison" offers the soft mouthfeel and body of spelt wheat, along with a subtle tropical note from New Zealand hops. "Field Saison" is presented as a saison centered on classic European hops, with yeast-derived fruitiness and citrus notes layered on top.
Also arriving from Yorocco Beer (Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture) were the standard "Skywalker IPA" and "Tobiuo Saison," made with citrus from the "Tobiuo Club," which operates around the Zushi Beach area. These two refreshing beers were introduced as ideal for cherry blossom season, and takeaway was also recommended.
About the Shop
SANITY's Gakugeidaigaku location is a beer pub where you can casually drink at the counter, and it shares daily arrival updates on Stories as well. This post also mentioned that the following day, March 27, is the birthday of the head brewer, Kai, and called on regulars and nearby restaurant staff to raise a toast. With the season changing and people more likely to feel run down, it was a day stocked with beers well suited to enjoying alongside a meal.
