OGA Brewing Company unveils Good Bye 2026 canned release in Mitaka
OGA Brewing Company has released the 2026 edition of its 'Good Bye' series, brewed around the memorial day for Osamu Dazai. The fruit ale uses Toki apples from Goshogawara, Aomori, and ties the beer closely to Mitaka's literary landscape.
OGA Brewing Company, based in Mitaka, Tokyo, has introduced the canned beer 'Good Bye 2026.' The release continues a series brewed around Osamu Dazai's memorial day, 'Sakura-Touki,' and this year marks the fourth installment. The 2026 version is a fruit ale made with Toki apples grown in Goshogawara, Aomori, Dazai's hometown.
The recipe is built on Heidelberg malt and wheat, with Saaz hops and apple juice as an adjunct. With 4.0% ABV, 20 IBU, and 3 SRM, the beer appears designed for a light body, restrained bitterness, and a bright appearance rather than a heavy profile. The apple character likely gives the finish a soft, fresh aftertaste.
The product page also includes a short story titled 'Saiken' ('See you again'), which adds a literary layer to the beer's theme of parting and continuation. OGA Brewing presents itself as a brewery that treats beer as a conversation starter, and its taproom sits beside the brewhouse in a residential part of Mitaka. Dazai-related sites, including the former site of his house, are within walking distance, making this release a natural fit for a beer-and-literature stroll through the neighborhood.
