BREW CLASSIC’s Wheat IPA "Wolf Chop"
The Kanazawa, Ishikawa brewery BREW CLASSIC has unveiled a new release, "Wolf Chop." It is a Wheat IPA with an ABV of 6.5%. The malt bill uses Pilsner and Wheat Malt, the hops are Mosaic cryo and HBC1019, and the yeast is WLP008.
The key point this time is that it uses the same amount of hops as a Hazy IPA. HBC1019, which BREW CLASSIC is using for the first time, is designed to bring out a strong lychee character, and within the fresh drinking profile, juicy citrus notes like pink grapefruit and blood orange layer on as the temperature changes.
In addition, using 50% wheat malt achieves both a soft mouthfeel with haze and a richer fruit character. Thanks also to the action of WLP008, the beer is not just hop-forward, but is rounded out into a fuller-bodied flavor.
BREW CLASSIC in Kanazawa is a brewery that stands out by making beers that bring its homebrewing individuality to the forefront. This "Wolf Chop" is also one to watch as a beer to enjoy slowly, from the way the aroma opens up through to the finish, with a balance between hops and wheat.
