Novel Craft Brewing (Suginami, Tokyo) is introducing its Dark Saison, "Over Dub," in the taproom. In a post, the brewery said it had been "on tap since yesterday," announcing that it had already started serving the beer. It also said it had stocked plenty of bottles, and welcomed customers stopping by for takeout or even for takeout only.
This new release is a Style: Dark Saison / ABV: 5%. According to the description, the toasty aroma of roasted malt is layered with the lightly fruity and spicy esters derived from saison yeast, giving it depth reminiscent of cacao and raisins, while finishing dry. It is presented as a beer designed for a relaxed, easy-sipping drinking experience.
Recommended pairings include meat dishes, cheese, and cake. The recipe avoids leaning too far into sweetness, while preserving roasted complexity and a dry finish, making it seem well suited as a beer to enjoy with food.
The brewery also announced a new lu rou fan-style keema curry menu item, along with a bottle re-release of its flagship saison, "Looper." In addition to its house-brewed beers, the taps also feature beers from other breweries, suggesting the broad lineup typical of a small Suginami brewery. With evening opening at 5 p.m., it is also an easy place to stop in for just one drink on the way home from work.
