New Taps

RIOT BEER’s Instagram post on June 13 announced new beer on tap alongside the day’s opening hours. The two highlighted beers are Sakeota Anniversary Hyuganatsu Pilsner and Rinko Wheat. Both were introduced as beers available at the brewery’s taproom, and the Hyuganatsu Pilsner was also slated to pour at Chitoyo near Chitose-Funabashi Station.

What you can drink

RIOT BEER is a brewpub in Setagaya, Tokyo, set in a quiet residential neighborhood. The brewery is known for malt-forward beers, with a style that favors depth and drinkability over flash. That approach fits the post well: the beers are introduced as part of a normal day at the taproom, even as they connect to events beyond the brewery itself.

The same post also pointed to a 4 p.m. appearance at Chitoyo in front of Chitose-Funabashi Station, where Hananoka was set to serve banh xeo, a Vietnamese-style savory pancake. There was also an away support appearance in Komazawa for SFIDA Setagaya FC. That wider schedule is part of RIOT BEER’s appeal: the brewery does not stop at the taproom door, but moves naturally through the neighborhood and its events.

For beer fans, the obvious starting point is the Hyuganatsu Pilsner, followed by the Wheat beer. At a small Setagaya brewpub like this, the beers are best read alongside the places and people around them, which is exactly what this post captures.
