Sakaigashi Brewery to Release a Limited Special-Aged Version of "MIYATA BERRY"
The brewpub "Sakaigashi Brewery," located within Roadside Station Sakai in Ibaraki, has unveiled the latest information on "MIYATA BERRY" on Instagram along with a New Year greeting. This season's version is a special release aged for about seven months in wooden barrels previously used for champagne production, and it is scheduled for a limited release.
This Year's Highlight Is the Barrel-Aged "MIYATA BERRY"
In a post published on January 30, 2026, Sakaigashi Brewery sent out a New Year's message saying, "Happy New Year and we look forward to your continued support." At the same time, it revealed details about MIYATA BERRY, which is currently being prepared for release.
According to the post, this season's MIYATA BERRY is later than originally planned, but the contents are especially special. The beer has been finished as a version aged for about seven months in wooden barrels used for champagne production. It will continue aging for a little while longer, and then is planned for a limited release.
What Kind of Beer Can We Expect?
While retaining the fruit-forward character derived from berries, the added depth and nuance from barrel aging should create a more layered flavor profile than the regular version. The hashtags in the post also mention Miyata Blueberry Farm, suggesting that this will be a strongly local beer, including in its ingredient background.
Because the brewery is located inside Roadside Station Sakai, it is also easy to stop by while driving or shopping. It seems like a great time to enjoy both the freshness you get from a brewery-run taproom and the excitement of aiming for a limited release.
