GROW BREW HOUSE Brews a Dark Saison with Local Brown Rice and Serves Six Beers
GROW BREW HOUSE, a brewpub in Nishi-Kawaguchi, has brewed a dark saison using brown rice from Kawaguchi. Visitors can tour the on-site brewery and enjoy six house beers, ranging from a West Coast IPA to a fruit saison.
A new beer brewed with Kawaguchi brown rice
GROW BREW HOUSE brewed a beer with brown rice from “Minuma no Sato Hotaru Rice,” supplied by Kawaguchi’s Nostalgia Kitchen. The beer was designed as a dark saison to highlight the rice’s roasted, earthy, and lightly spicy character. Roasted malt is expected to add caramel and biscuit-like aromas, while grassy hops evoke the atmosphere of the rice fields.
The venue is a brewpub with an adjoining brewery, and guests can tour the brewing equipment while visiting. Seeing the production site before tasting the beer adds another dimension to the experience. Located within walking distance of Nishi-Kawaguchi Station, the taproom offers an approachable setting where brewers and drinkers can meet over fresh beer.
The tap list
The lineup featured six beers: “R122,” an 8.5% West Coast IPA; “POTTERING,” a 6% saison; “Yukiai,” a 5% dry-hopped pils; “Yoi no Chamekke,” a 4% brown ale; “NK.BLACK,” a 5% porter; and “Kamine Saison YUZU,” a 6% fruit saison.
Hop-forward drinkers may prefer R122 or Yukiai, while Yoi no Chamekke and NK.BLACK offer darker malt character. Kamine Saison YUZU provides a fruit-focused option. At GROW BREW HOUSE, visitors can choose a beer while taking in the atmosphere of a working neighborhood brewery.
