Nagano City-based NAGANO BREWERY (Nagano Brewery) is rolling out its new beer "Hisho" in limited quantities at Farms Kijimadaira in Kijimadaira Village. According to a post, it is a saison brewed with Koshihikari rice grown by Orizora in Kijimadaira Village and sake koji.

The concept is an image of something you can drink "guzzling down" after finishing farm work. The design appears to combine the gentle impression from the rice with the brisk, lively character of a saison. With an unusual ingredient combination for craft beer, it is also interesting as an effort to connect local agricultural products with fermentation culture.

For now, sales are limited to the roadside station at Farms Kijimadaira only. If you have a chance to stop by nearby, it is worth checking out as a local exclusive item you can only get there. In addition, beers from "Hige no Coffee", a collaboration with Nagano Brewery, are also carried at the facility, and the coffee shop inside the roadside station reportedly serves the same shop's coffee as well.

As a craft brewery based in Nagano City, Nagano Brewery is also working on growing ingredients in its own farm and on circular, sustainable production. This "Hisho" is another new release that reflects that locally rooted approach, and it is one to watch.
