BAK Brewery's "Swallowtail" Wins Silver at the Untappd Community Awards
BAK Brewery in Kitahorie, Nishi Ward, Osaka, announced that its saison "Swallowtail," made with yuzu and black pepper, won silver in the Untappd Community Awards. After it sold out, stock returned and it is now being tapped gradually at each location.
BAK (Bak Brewery), based in Kitahorie, Nishi Ward, Osaka City, announced that its saison "Swallowtail," made with yuzu and black pepper, won silver in the Untappd Community Awards. The post also noted that this was a second consecutive year of recognition, and that by the time they noticed the award, it had already sold out.
BAK is an Osaka-born urban brewery that champions "Brewing and Kindling." On its official website, it says its concept is to make free-spirited, interesting, and delicious beer without being bound by tradition or trends. A hallmark of the brewery is that it serves its own beers at its brewing base in Horie and at its directly operated locations throughout Osaka City.
For this latest batch, the brewery says it dialed up the spiciness of the black pepper, adjusting the beer to have a bolder character than before. ABV is 5.5%. Brewed as a yuzu kosho saison intended to pair with fried foods, it offers a balance of aroma and bite that beer drinkers can enjoy.
BAK is also known for brewing new releases almost every week and constantly rotating its lineup. The way a beer that has sold out once can return to the taps, as in this case, is a benefit of that nimble brewing setup. In addition to the buzz of the award, being able to taste it again when it reappears is a point not to miss for beer fans.
