Beer House Hobbit is a beer pub within walking distance of Keihan Hirakata-shi Station. It is known for rotating draft beers and a selection of about 70 bottled beers, and it offers craft beer in a Showa-retro atmosphere. On the food side, its beer-marinated fried chicken and potato salad are also popular.

The three kegs tapped this time are Minoh Beer’s “Papa-zaru Lager,” “Osa-zaru IPA,” and “Ko-zaru IPA.” All belong to the “zaru” lineage, but each has a very different flavor direction.

- `Papa-zaru Lager` is a dark lager. It features a toasty malt character reminiscent of biscuits, gentle barley sweetness, and the calm aroma of noble hops, with a rounded mouthfeel from low-temperature aging.
- `Osa-zaru IPA` is a standard IPA made with five varieties of American hops. Its hop aroma and bitterness are well balanced with the body, and its crisp finish makes it easy to keep drinking.
- `Ko-zaru IPA` is a session-leaning IPA made with pilsner malt and wheat malt. It has a light body and a sharp finish, letting you enjoy the aroma of American hops in a lively, easygoing way.

Even though these are three labels from the same brewery, lager, standard IPA, and session IPA each show clearly different personalities, which makes this a great lineup for side-by-side tasting. At a place like Beer House Hobbit, where you can enjoy changes in the draft selection, a set like this makes it easy to experience the bar’s character and the beer’s individuality at the same time.
