Event Overview

Want a Beer will hold its annual cherry blossom viewing event starting at 12:00 on April 5. The venue is the shop’s parking lot, where blue tarps will be laid out so guests can eat and drink while looking at the cherry blossoms of Hakuyo High School from a distance. If it rains, the tarp setup will be canceled.

Food and Beer

As in last year, sushi will be served as the food. The shop is known for fish dishes sourced every week from Utsunomiya Central Market, and says it serves fresh fish on the same level as a sushi restaurant. The featured beer this time is Minoh Beer’s "Weizen," ordered to pair with the sushi. The lineup is designed so guests can enjoy the overlapping aromas of soy sauce and banana-like notes.

Other beers currently on tap include Karuizawa Q’s "Meguri/Yuzu Saison" and "Ruby/Fruits Ale." There is also the fun of comparing how the yuzu nuances and fruity character interact with the sushi. Another point of interest is how it feels when paired with a hop-forward IPA.

Other Details

Wine will also be available, including not only refreshing mineral-driven whites but also rosés and reds with a dashi-like quality, served by the glass. Being able to casually try wines that are usually sold mainly by the bottle is another appeal that feels very Want a Beer. With sushi, craft beer, and wine, it looks like an event where people can spend a relaxed spring afternoon.
