Streetlight Brewing unveils Lai Lai Lychee, a lychee and oolong tea ale
Streetlight Brewing in Sapporo has introduced Lai Lai Lychee, a collaboration beer built around lychee and oolong tea. The 5.5% ABV ale is tied to a China Airlines project marking the airline’s 20 years of service to New Chitose Airport, with a profile that leans fruity and refreshing.
Streetlight Brewing in Sapporo’s Soen area has announced a Taiwan-themed collaboration beer, Lai Lai Lychee. The beer is labeled as `Ale Style w/ Lychee & Oolong Tea` and comes in at 5.5% ABV. According to the brewery, it combines the bright aroma of lychee with the light, clean character of oolong tea, aiming for a drink that feels both fruity and easy to enjoy.
The project was developed with China Airlines and is positioned as a celebration of the airline’s 20th year of service to New Chitose Airport. The name “Lai Lai” carries a meaning close to “come on, come on,” and is also used as a toast in Taiwan, which makes the beer’s name feel closely tied to the theme of exchange between Hokkaido and Taiwan.
The label was illustrated by Nachiko Murata, based in Tomakomai, and features a colorful mix of motifs associated with both Taiwan and Hokkaido. Streetlight Brewing’s own idea of bringing a small light into the city fits this beer well: it is not built to overwhelm, but to leave a clear impression on drinkers who like aromatic, balanced ales with a travel story behind them.
