Tokyo-based brewery Kaiser Chick in Chofu has introduced "Chick Weizen / Hefeweizen" as a long-awaited new release.

According to the post, the beer has an alcohol content of 5.5% and an IBU of 13. It is a hazy, traditional South German wheat beer, and the brewery says it has revived a label that was also offered last spring. This time, the malt bill has been adjusted to create a finish that lets the grain character come through.

In the flavor description, bitterness is kept low, allowing the smooth mouthfeel and gentle acidity derived from wheat malt to come forward. Rather than pushing the classic Weizen ester aroma too strongly, the brewery aimed for a softly fragrant balance. It is not the kind of beer that relies on flashiness, but it seems like an easy-to-enjoy wheat beer for everyday drinking, one that should pair comfortably with meals or cake.

Kaiser Chick is a brewery based in Chofu, Tokyo, and in this post as well it said, "We are waiting for you with beer, cake, and rice dishes." In addition to brewing, it is very much in line with the shop's character to suggest ways to enjoy it as a confectionery as well. It is essentially a light, spring-leaning pour returning at the start of the season.
