ALE HOUSE Kamiya in Osaka’s Doyama district has newly tapped “Buntan Cider” from REC CIDER BEER WORKS.
The hard cider starts with apples from Fukushima Prefecture. During the later stage of fermentation, the cider is blended with the peel and juice of Tosa buntan, a Japanese citrus fruit. It is then dry-hopped with Talus hops, followed by the addition of grapefruit to intensify its citrus aroma and flavor.
The result combines the floral, fruity character of apples with the refreshing citrus notes of buntan and grapefruit. Talus hops add a bright aroma and a clean bitterness, giving the drink a crisp, easy-drinking finish. It should appeal to guests looking for a fruit-forward drink with more hop character than a conventional cider.
