Brasserie SOMA Taps Kokura Cucumber Gose from Kokura Brewing
Brasserie SOMA, the brewpub operated by Kokura Brewing in Kitakyushu, has tapped Kokura Cucumber Gose. Brewed with plenty of cucumbers from Kokura-Minami Ward, the beer offers melon-like fruitiness, a refreshing aroma, and a moderate salty finish.
A gose made with local cucumbers
Brasserie SOMA, the brewpub of Kokura Brewing, is serving its new beer, Kokura Cucumber Gose. The gose uses a generous amount of cucumbers grown in Kokura-Minami Ward. According to the brewery’s post, it has a melon-like fruity character, a bright and refreshing aroma, and a pleasant level of saltiness.
Rather than presenting cucumber as a sharply vegetal note, the beer is described as balancing fruit-inspired aromatics with the gentle salinity associated with the gose style. It looks like an expressive local beer suited to warm weather and food pairings.
Available alongside a local festival appearance
On the day of the announcement, Brasserie SOMA was operating with the owner working alone because the team was attending Higashitani Festival in Kokura-Minami Ward. At the event, Kokura Brewing beers and currywurst were being sold. Visitors could therefore enjoy the new gose at the brewpub or explore it with festival food and the brewery’s other beers.
Brasserie SOMA is located at 4-2-22 Uomachi, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. As a brewpub, it offers a direct way to experience Kokura Brewing’s beers in a casual restaurant setting. Opening hours and beer availability may change, so checking the official channels before visiting is recommended.
