On the taps that day, six different styles were lined up, ranging from saison, IPA, Irish red, fruit sour, Belgian white, to a Kölsch-style beer. The selection has a broad range, from a glass that highlights hop aroma to one that pairs with meals through acidity and spice.
* ONE LAP BEHIND / Shibukotan × BLACK TIDE BREWING
* Saison w/ Yuzu. As you bring the glass close, citrus aromas rise, and on the palate the complexity from the saison yeast unfolds. ABV 6.0%.
* SNOW MONKEY IPA / Shiga Kogen Beer
* An IPA with notes reminiscent of grapefruit, lychee, and white peach. Its light bitterness keeps the fruitiness crisp and clean. ABV 6.0%.
* Michisugara / Karuizawa Q
* An Irish Red with gentle biscuit-like malt aroma layered with caramel and dried fruit notes. The more you drink, the more a calm savoriness emerges. ABV 5.0%.
* Fresh!!! / Romantic Village × Want a Beer
* Want a Beer's 5th-anniversary original Fruits Sour Ale. Brewed with 60 kg of five kinds of citrus and made to use all of the juice, this beer puts fresh acidity at center stage. ABV 5.0%.
* SPECIALS / Romantic Village × Want a Beer
* Another 5th-anniversary original. A Belgian White with the zest of five kinds of citrus and coriander, leaving a spicy note after its bright, floral character. ABV 5.0%.
* Tomarigi / Karuizawa Q
* A Kölsch-style beer where soft malt is overlaid with aromas reminiscent of herbs and lemon. It is brisk and easy to follow with another glass. ABV 5.0%.
The food menu stands out for its seafood lineup. Dishes such as flounder and yellowstriped horse mackerel carpaccio, house-smoked mackerel with ricotta cheese, and fried mekikari are on offer, making it fun to change up pairings depending on the beer style. If you want to bring out hop aroma, go for the IPA; if you want to start with appetizers, choose the sour or white; and if you want something to go with the meal, the Irish Red or Kölsch-style beer is an easy pick. Building your order around both the tap list and the food makes this place's character especially clear.
