Enjoying 13 taps in Ningyocho
Located in Tomizawacho, Chuo Ward, Tokyo, “NIHONBASHI BREWERY Ningyocho Branch” is a brewery with 13 kinds of craft beer. With S, M, and L sizes available, it is appealing because you can sample small amounts and easily find your favorite.
One of the flagship offerings is NIHONBASHI IPA, said to have been devised for Japanese drinkers by Trevor Bress, brewmaster of the Polish organic brewery “HUB.” It can also be enjoyed in a SAKE STYLE that evokes the aroma of hinoki cypress, so even the same beer can leave a different impression depending on how you drink it.
Other selections include Hitachino Yuzu Lager, whose character comes from yuzu aroma and a crisp finish; Suruga Bay Imperial IPA, known for its hop bitterness and smooth drinkability; and Hitachino White Ale, with spice and orange peel aromas. The lineup makes it easy to appreciate the differences in each beer’s character.
Atmosphere of the shop
The interior is described as a “stylish space” and a “calm space,” and counter seats are available as well. With 52 seats and private booking available, it is easy to use for everything from small meals to group gatherings. Its walkable location from Ningyocho Station, Bakuroyokoyama Station, Higashi-Nihombashi Station, and Kodenmacho Station also makes it convenient for after-work drinks or daytime drinking.
The food is structured to pair well with beer, with pizza and pasta at the center of the menu. Since you can enjoy craft beer as the main attraction while also appreciating how it complements the food, it is easy to start with the original IPA, then move on to yuzu or white-style beers afterward.
For anyone in the Ningyocho area who wants to drink while moving between classic and distinctive styles, this is a place worth putting on the list.
