Two new beers from Mad Scientist
Beer Scissors Akihabara, a craft beer pub in Taito, Tokyo, is pouring two new arrivals from Hungarian brewery Mad Scientist.
“Go Loko” is a sweet-leaning gose brewed with raspberry, rhubarb, vanilla, and cinnamon. Its combination of fruit, acidity, and spice offers a distinctive dessert-like profile.
“Old King Clancy” is a barleywine brewed with maple syrup. Originally released in 2022 and aged for approximately four years, it is described as having developed a richer, rounder character over time.
A varied international tap list
The September 22 list also includes Yatsugatake Touchdown’s Rock Doppelbock, Hino Brewing’s Chain Smoker, and “Tooi Aki,” a collaboration between Zumona Beer, Good Hops, and Beer Scissors Akihabara. Other selections include CRAFT BANK’s Bank IPA, Swan Lake Beer’s Overtrue, Senba Brewery’s Okawari Kölsch, and Revo Brewing’s Yokohama-style IPA.
Teenage Brewing and ANTELOPE’s “Mutations” and Birra Perugia’s “ILA” complete the published lineup. With dark malt-driven beer, hop-forward IPA, a crisp Kölsch, fruit and spice accents, and collaboration beers all represented, the selection offers plenty of room for comparison across styles.
Beer Scissors Akihabara is a tap-focused beer pub serving domestic and international craft beer in the Akihabara area. Guests can ask the staff about the changing selection and sample several styles in one visit. Opening hours are 4:00–10:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 4:00–11:00 p.m. Friday; 2:00–11:00 p.m. Saturday; and 2:00–10:00 p.m. Sunday and holidays. Last orders are taken one hour before closing.
