KARAKURI in Kanda Opens Swan Lake x Craftrock's Rouge Cerise
KARAKURI -Craft Beer & Oden & Sake- in Kanda, Tokyo, announced the tap opening of Rouge Cerise, a collaboration beer from Swan Lake and Craftrock. The beer celebrates Swan Lake Beer’s 29th anniversary and features layered barrel-aging character.
KARAKURI -Craft Beer & Oden & Sake- is a beer pub in a basement location in Kanda, Tokyo, known for craft beer, sake, natural wine, and creative dishes centered on oden. In its August 9 post, the shop announced a new tap: Rouge Cerise / Swan Lake (Niigata) x Craftrock (Tokyo).
The beer is a 29th-anniversary release for Swan Lake Beer. Built on a Flanders Red Ale base, it blends three versions aged in different vessels: an oak barrel previously used for Swan Lake Beer’s Niigata Japanesque, a red-wine barrel from CAVE D’OCCI in Niigata, and stainless keg conditioning. The result is described as showing soft, rounded malt sweetness with a gentle, pleasant acidity.
The label was designed by Genki Kubo, who worked on a Belgium tour with the breweries, and depicts a swan turning red while holding a branch, reflecting the Rouge Cerise theme. It is the kind of beer that fits KARAKURI’s relaxed atmosphere, especially alongside oden and house dishes.
