Noroshi Brewery, based in Nagareyama Ootaka-no-Mori in Chiba, announced a new beer release on Instagram: Noroshi American Red Ale. The post also noted that the external keg allocation has already sold out.

Noroshi American Red Ale

This beer is a substantial American Red Ale built around reddish-brown malt character and firm American hop bitterness. According to the brewery, it was designed to evoke the early-2010s era of American craft beer, with a sense of nostalgia. The listed style is American Amber Ale / American Red Ale, with 5.4% ABV, 58.3 IBU, and an SRM of 36.0. The grist includes Pils, Pale Ale, Crystal Rosewood, Spitz, Sour, and Carafa Special Type III, while the hop bill features Simcoe, Centennial, CTZ, Mosaic, and Mosaic CGX.

Flavor profile

The tasting notes describe aromas of caramel, light roast, citrus, and pine from the glass. On the palate, layered malt depth and assertive bitterness come forward, finishing with a red-fruit-like aftertaste that can also suggest berry notes. Even with modern hop varieties in the mix, the beer keeps malt as the clear center of gravity.

Why it fits Nagareyama

Noroshi Brewery is known for building beers with a strong sense of place while continuing to experiment with new ingredients and techniques. In the taproom, this kind of red ale should pair naturally with fried foods, fish and chips, pizza, tacos, or burgers. Rather than chasing flashiness, it looks like a beer that reveals more character as you keep drinking, making it a good fit for both food pairing and a slow final pint.
