Motoyamacho Brewery in Mito, Ibaraki, has released a new American Wheat IPA called “Tayutau.” The beer is an improved version of an earlier recipe, with the brewery revisiting its formulation to refine the balance and drinkability.
According to the brewery, “Tayutau” features the softness of wheat malt and a gentle acidity, complemented by a subtle layer of American hop aroma. Rather than emphasizing intense bitterness or an aggressively saturated hop profile, the beer is positioned as an approachable IPA that can be enjoyed at an unhurried pace.
The rounded character contributed by the wheat malt provides a soft base, while the light acidity helps keep the finish fresh. The restrained hop aroma adds an American IPA accent without overwhelming the beer, making it suitable for casual drinking as well as pairing with food.
