Two-Day "Asahikawa IPA #5" Event Held at Freehouse-THE YEAST in Asahikawa
At the beer pub Freehouse-THE YEAST in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, a two-day event centered on Yeasters' "Asahikawa IPA #5" will be held on April 11 and 12. This triple collaboration between Keboz, Kyokuichi, and Yeasters also offers food and merch to enjoy alongside the beer.
At the beer pub Freehouse-THE YEAST in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, a two-day event called "PLAY BALL" will be held on April 11 and 12, according to an Instagram post from Yeasters. The star of the event is the collaboration beer Asahikawa IPA #5 by Keboz × Kyokuichi × Yeasters.
For the fifth batch in the series, it has been designed as a solid, clean IPA that keeps the same theme while bringing together "brightness" and a rough, old-school vibe. The post explains that it has been made more citrus-forward than the previous release, with sharper contours, and that although it comes in at 6.5%, the malt character has not been made too heavy, resulting in a beer that goes down smoothly. As the name suggests, it conveys the sense of a collaboration built around an IPA from Asahikawa.
Food will also be offered each day at the venue. On April 11, Shinnosuke, the owner of "Kyokuichi," who is based in Okinawa, will return briefly to Asahikawa and head into the kitchen at Freehouse-THE YEAST. On April 12, @comagen1001 and @kyokuichi0166 will team up for a B2B set, serving special food made for Asahikawa IPA. In both cases, service will end once items sell out, so arriving early to pair with the beer seems like a good idea.
In addition, a long-bill cap and T-shirts will be released in two colorways, along with an original bandana that can be enjoyed as a set with two cans of Asahikawa IPA. These two days capture the spirit of an Asahikawa beer pub, with beer, food, and merch all coming together as one. For anyone looking for a springtime pour, this is an event worth checking out.
