Open Until 23:30 on Friday

The beer pub "Bakushu Yumeemi," on the second floor west of Yamato Oji on Shijo-dori in Kyoto's Higashiyama Ward, will be open on Friday, May 15, from 19:00 to 23:30. Like a place tucked away in a corner of Gion that welcomes solo drinkers and does not take reservations, it is the kind of bar where you can drop in casually and enjoy a drink starting with the first glass.

The Centerpiece on Draft Is "Kaze Tooshi"

First up among the draft beers that day is KaruizawaQ's "Kaze Tooshi" Session IPA. It is described as a 5% beer with a brisk drinking profile centered on hop balance, and while it has the aroma you'd expect from an IPA, the design that lets it slide smoothly down the throat is especially appealing. On a Friday that stays open late, it is an easy choice for a first drink.

A Low-Alcohol Dark Beer Too

Another highlight is Nara Brewing's micro porter. It is introduced as a WBC gold-medal-winning batch, and although it is a low-alcohol beer at ABV 3%, it is presented as a beer that neatly captures the appeal of dark beer. The creamy foam from the ball tap and its compatibility with Arakawa's glass are also mentioned, making it something to enjoy not just with the eyes but with the mouthfeel as well.

Ongoing Taps and Food

Also still being served are Faro's white beer with yuzu and sansho, and Cuvee Delanquet. Both are reportedly being gradually depleted by repeat orders, so you can feel the quick turnover that is characteristic of craft beer inside the shop as well. While the serving of Asahi Draft Beer has ended, the Premium Malt's is slated to be tried again later.

In addition to the standard fries, the food menu includes Camembert cheese and more. Furthermore, barracuda fritters are scheduled to appear from the following day onward, making this a welcome lineup for anyone who wants to calmly pair beer with snacks. On a night in Kyoto when you want draft beer that is subtle rather than flashy but has substance, this is a place worth remembering.
